Flat Roofing
Are you looking for a roofing company in New York that has special expertise in flat roofing? Here at Z. Abedin Construction, we’ve installed these roofs across the five boroughs and beyond, and we know what it takes to install a long-lasting, high-quality roof.
Over the past few decades, big improvements have come to flat roofing technology and materials. Today’s materials are highly durable and energy efficient. In the past, flat roofs have be unable to last as long as sloped roofs because standing water was a perennial problem. Thanks to new innovations, flat roofs can now compete with sloped roofs when it comes to longevity.
Types of Flat Roofing
There are several types of flat roofing, and the best one for your home may depend on several factors. When one of our roofing experts comes out to your home to evaluate your roof and create an estimate, you can discuss the different types of roofs and which one would work best for your home.
Single-Ply
Single-ply flat roofing has a single layer of membrane acting as a waterproofing surface. There are several different kinds of single-ply membranes available today, including EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), and TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin). Each of these products varies in durability, cost, and other specs.
Built-Up Roofs
Tar-and-gravel, modified bitumen, and rolled asphalt are varieties of built-up roofs. Each of these roofing styles requires a positive roof slope of at least 1/12 inches in order to be effective.
Spray-on Roofs
Spray-on (also called paint-on) roofs are sprayed directly onto the roof deck and then coated with acrylic or urethane as well as a layer of crushed gravel or sand. These roofs are usually installed on top of single-ply or low slope metal roofs.
Signs that Your Roof Needs Attention
The most common signs that your roof is reaching the end of its life cycle are thinning and blistering, cracking, slice marks, contracting and pulling, flaking, and grease build-up that can no longer be removed.
If you’re noticing any of these issues, give us a call at Z. Abedin Construction 718-633-9605. We’ll send out a flat roof specialist to evaluate your current roof and offer you suggestions about repairs or replacement.
